The Usui System of Natural Healing, what we call Reiki in the USA, has several Degrees or Levels of skill. In different parts of the world and within the Reiki Community, Reiki Teaching Masters offer these Degrees, particular to their Reiki Lineage or Reiki Training.  One system is not necessarily better than another; each Reiki Teaching Master is specific to their Reiki Lineage or Reiki Training.

Reiki Training: The Traditional Usui Reiki Lineage

There are many spiritual lineages or “branches” of The Usui System of Natural Healing; it is not a competition. You should receive Reiki Training in the lineage you sense you “signed up” for. You may receive Reiki Training from someone you don’t know, a friend, a family member, or whoever you feel Reiki is calling you to receive training. Again, this is not about better or worse; it is about the correct Reiki Training for you. I invite you to discern who will be your Reiki Teaching Master without regard for relationships or any other personal attachment. Find your Reiki Teaching Master from Inner Discernment – not your brain, fear, or ego.

Reiki Lineage is the thread of Reiki Masters that connects you directly to Mikao Usui, the Founder of Reiki. Some Reiki Teaching Masters, like myself, have more than one Reiki Teaching Master they received Reiki Training from. Below are the two Reiki Lineages I am connected to and part of.

Traditional Usui Reiki Training: What Are The Reiki Attunements

Reiki Attunements are the method of the Traditional Reiki System that Mikao Usui, the Founder of Reiki, passed from the Reiki Teaching Master to Reiki students, activating the connection to Reiki for the Reiki student to get access to Reiki any time they choose. Traditional Usui Reiki Attunements are passed at each Degree of Traditional Usui Reiki Training. They are a sacred ritual of Initiation. Reiki Attunements can be very profound experiences for many students. The Traditional Usui Reiki system included four Attunements, each with First Degree Reiki and Second Degree Reiki Training. All Reiki Master Degrees of Reiki Training also include a Reiki Attunement.

First Degree Traditional Usui Reiki Training

First Degree Traditional Usui Reiki Training is where all new Reiki students begin their Traditional Usui Reiki Training. In this class, students will complete all four First Degree Reiki Attunements, practice sharing and receiving Reiki, and be ready to share Reiki with friends, family, and in emergencies. First Degree Traditional Usui Reiki Training is offered as a two-day Training.

Second Degree Traditional Usui Reiki Training

Second Degree Traditional Usui Reiki Training is often designated as the Reiki Practitioner level of Traditional Usui Reiki Training. Similar to First Degree Reiki Training, Second Degree Reiki Training includes four Reiki Attunements and Reiki practice opportunities. Second-degree Reiki Training also includes training on working with the three Traditional Usui Reiki Symbols and Reiki Colors. The Three Traditional Usui Reiki Symbols are used for different applications, one of which is specifically for Reiki Distant Healing.

After completing the Second Degree Reiki class, students may offer Reiki as a Traditional Usui Reiki Practitioner instead of just with friends and family as in First Degree Reiki. Second Degree Reiki Training prepares the Traditional Usui Reiki Practitioner to work at a higher level than First Degree and to facilitate Distance Reiki Healing to any person, place, or thing. There is an increase in the energy created by the Reiki Practitioner in Second Degree Reiki. The Reiki Practitioner will begin training in Reiki Counseling in Second-degree Reiki Training. Second Degree Reiki Training is offered as a two-day Reiki Training.

Third Degree Traditional Usui Reiki Training

Third Degree Traditional Usui Reiki Training has three different levels of Reiki Training: Advanced Reiki Training, Reiki Teacher Master Training, and Reiki Master Training.

Advanced Reiki Training

Third Degree Advanced Reiki Training (ART) is a one-day Traditional Usui Reiki Training. This degree in Reiki Training is for increasing the intensity of Reiki energy, Advanced Reiki Counseling Training, and a Reiki Attunement to raise the overall Reiki vibration of Reiki Practitioners.

Reiki Teaching Master Training

Reiki Teaching Master Training is a two-day Reiki Training that prepares a Reiki Practitioner to facilitate Traditional Usui Reiki Training for other students. Reiki Master Teacher Training includes passing Reiki Attunements, organizing Reiki Training, and facilitating Reiki Training. This class includes time for practicing passing Reiki Attunements to Reiki Teaching Masters.

Reiki Master Training

Reiki Master Training is for Reiki Teaching Masters committed to Personal and Spiritual Development as a lifelong growth process through Reiki. The Reiki Master Training is typically unique to each Reiki Master receiving Reiki Master Training.
