Gimme Shelter Playing For Change

http://www.playingforchange.com – Hello Everyone, Today we are proud to release the newest song around the world from our upcoming PFC 2 album CD/DVD release!! “Gimme Shelter” is a track we have wanted to record for years and today we can finally share it with all of you. This song expresses the urgency we all face to unite together as a planet and offers us wisdom with the words, “War, children, it’s just a shot away… Love, sister, it’s just a kiss away”. It really is that simple. We dedicate this song to all the lost, homeless and forgotten people in this world. It is in the shelter of each other that the people live.

Lean On Me  Playing For Change Video

We’re proud to present a brand new Song Around The World, “Lean On Me”, for The Art of Saving a Life campaign! The support of our Playing For Change global family just goes to show the amazing impact art can have on people everywhere. Enjoy this video and join us in sharing all of the art created in this effort to improve children’s health around the world!

About The Art of Saving a Life:
Despite great progress, one in five children today do not have access to the life-saving vaccines they need. The Art of Saving a Life, a project commissioned by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is a collection of stories about how vaccines continue to change the course of history. It offers an opportunity to hear, see and feel the tremendous impact of immunization, and to energize us in the global effort to protect every child from life-threatening disease. These stories are told by more than 30 world-renowned photographers, painters, sculptors, writers, filmmakers, and musicians to impress urgency on the global community to reach all children with the life-saving vaccines they need. What’s Going On  Playing For Change Video

We started this performance with PFC Band members Titi Tsira and Clarence Bekker while on a trip together in Rio de Janeiro. Wherever we traveled we would add more musicians, strings in Serbia, guitar and bass in Chicago, pandeiro in Brazil and the final piece came together with Sara Bareilles’ vocal performance at Washington Square park in NYC. The message of this song is as strong as ever and it’s up to us to make the change we want to see. Music can show us the way.

Imagine Playing For Change Video

In the beginning of 2010 the Playing For Change crew began work on a new Song Around the World, John Lennon’s “Imagine.” It has been an amazing year of production, taking the crew from the favelas of Brazil to the shrines of southern India, from villages in Nepal to the glittering urban landscape of Tokyo and New York, and beyond.

This song is the Playing For Change Foundation’s gift to the world. The Playing For Change Foundation feels honored to have the blessing and generous support of Yoko Ono as music lovers around the world join together to launch the Power to the People campaign. The campaign seeks to advance John Lennon’s vision of peace by engaging artists and audiences to contribute to music education programs worldwide. Proceeds raised will help build music schools, support teachers and music programs, purchase instruments, and connect schools for cross-cultural learning and conflict resolution across borders. Music IS the power: Power to the People.
