As a practicing Traditional Usui Reiki Teaching Master since 1995, I have first-hand experience demonstrating how Reiki can positively affect all aspects of our lives, mental, emotional, physical, social, sexual, professional and spiritual. It is no surprise to me that research is beginning to show how Reiki benefits cancer-related symptoms. As Reiki has gained credibility in the medical profession, the need for quality research has increased. We are all very grateful for the researchers who conducted their work without bias. Unfortunately, many researchers include personal prejudice in their work trying to make Reiki seem to be something it’s not, positive or negative. To complement the Research Reports in the August 2014 issue of MASSAGE Magazine. Summary: Reiki practitioners provided services to adults being treated at a cancer center, as well as adults being treated in other areas of the same university hospital. Both groups reported an improvement in their symptoms after receiving reiki, with the cancer-center participants specifically citing improvements in common cancer-related symptoms including pain, mood disturbances, and feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Individuals at a cancer infusion center reported improvement in cancer-related symptoms after receiving reiki treatments.

Reiki provides improvement in common cancer-related symptoms.

The study, “Symptomatic Improvement Reported After Receiving Reiki at a Cancer Infusion Center,” involved the administration of volunteer reiki services on adults in a university hospital to evaluate reiki’s benefits.
