Life

“Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans”. John Lennon

Life can, at times, be amazing and enthralling. The force and beauty can be so astounding that we forget we are alive creatures with a body. Then there are other days that make us feel like life is greater than we can handle. We may consider giving up under the weight of the profound sense of feeling as we will never succeed and achieve contentment or peace. For most of us, life is a careful search for balance within the peaks and valleys that can shake our core. We crave deeper connections, well-being, and a sense of homeostasis.

Some folks turn to religion; others turn to drugs. Most of us will turn to anything that numbs the pain to disconnect, try to make sense of it all, or survive! We often create distance between ourselves and those we care most about. We find creative ways to protect our hearts from pain, fear, sadness, and suffering. My experience is that underneath these layers of protection, we truly want an incredible life with fulfilling relationships. The fear of failing convinces us to settle. We accept far less than we can achieve and eventually forget that this is not what we signed up for. We think it is too late or we are too old. This is not true! We do not have to settle for mediocrity or disappointment. We can begin right where we are – TODAY. We can initiate the process by strengthening connections to Self and others. And we can establish a foundation of positive habits and good decision-making. We do this by embracing our strengths and facing our obstacles. We are needed!
